Inactive removal.
« on: September 03, 2013, 12:31:27 am »
Hello all, I've joined this forum recently and just saw the announcement and thread that said inactive members will be removed.

First, let me say, I own many forums, and the key to success is to have as many members as possible, even if inactive.

On a forum, it shows how many members there are, and when a potential member looks at the member count and only sees 2-3 members, it is less likely they'll join.
That is why I keep all of my members, even the inactive ones.

Also, the key to succeeding on a forum is to KEEP GOING, as in, always post on it with useful posts, and when someone visits a forum with a lot of good stuff, it's even more likely they'll join.

I strongly suggest reconsidering the deletion of inactive members.

Cheers!

We've moved to a different forum, which I host of my own serves, and what you probably don't realize since you most likely host from companies such as createaforum, or mybb, is that it clogs the server up and makes the website slow. If you have 3,000 members, and that is your max capacity, but 250 are inactive, wouldn't you want to remove them? Createaforum and MyBB use fiber optic cables (which are currently unavailable to me) which allows the amount of data to be transferred at one time to increase. Since I'm currently hosting the website (and 3 others, plus 3 different game servers currently) it is extremely important to have as much data going and coming as much as possible. I will be getting fiber optic cables sometime this month, so it won't be a problem, but until then more data = more success.

I'm getting the fiber optic later this week, then it won't be a problem.
